Facilitation  Skills for Effective Groups

Those who lead and work within organizations understand that differences of opinions is  one consistent factor you can count on. The art of bringing people together, face-to-face or remotely, to elicit ideas and gain consensus on solutions is a critical success factor for all workplace professionals. This workshop will incorporate facilitation theories, principles, skills, modeling and practice opportunities to enhance your facilitation competence and confidence.  Participants will learn and apply group facilitation skills for use in meetings, strategic planning and multi-party disputes.

OUTLINE

  • Explore the primary obstacles to communication in group problem-solving settings; 
  • Examine the role of the facilitation process in managing conflict among individuals;
  • Identify attitudes, skills, and styles desirable for the third-party facilitator role; 
  • Experience selected consensus methodologies for managing group communication; 
  • Practice facilitation both as inside and outside facilitator

OUTCOME

  • Expand their knowledge of facilitation to include traits of a facilitative individual, facilitative leader and outside facilitator of groups
  • Recognize the value of participatory decision making as keys to long term sustainable strategic plans 
  • Enhance meeting effectiveness through applying participatory skills into practice 
  • Build skills that are process oriented and enhance content discussions
